Gene Simmons says Donald Trump “got all the cockroaches to rise to the top”

Gene Simmons has taken aim at former Donald Trump in the wake of the Texas
school shooting that left 19 students and two teachers dead.

Gene Simmons has taken aim at former US President Donald Trump in the wake of
the Texas elementary school shooting that left 19 students and two teachers
dead.

In an interview with SPIN, the KISS rocker and former Celebrity Apprentice
contestant didn’t hold back on his thoughts on Trump and the rippling effect
of his controversial run as president of the United States.

“I know the previous [US] President,” Simmons said. “I knew him before he
entered politics. Look what that gentleman did to this country and the
polarisation — got all the cockroaches to rise to the top. Once upon a time,
you were embarrassed to be publicly racist and out there with conspiracy
theories. Now it’s all out in the open because he allowed it.”

Simmons also criticised Trump for merging his role as a businessman with his
role as president.

“You have a different responsibility when you’re just a citizen or an
entrepreneur,” he said. “You don’t make policy. It doesn’t affect life and
death. When you get into a position of power, it does affect lives.”

Simmons added, “I don’t think he’s a Republican or a Democrat. He’s out for
himself, any way you can get there. And in the last election, over 70 million
people bought it hook, line, and sinker.”

The rock legend didn’t stop there, as he went on to criticise current US
President Joe Biden, despite saying he liked his “Ethics and morality”.

“The current president [Joe Biden], I like the ethics and morality — not a
charismatic guy, unfortunately,” Simmons said. “The first word I keep hearing
from people, even friends is ‘feeble.’ I don’t think he should run next time.
So then who’s around? There are no stars and invariably people vote for
stars, not even what they believe in. The cult of personality. Americans are
star obsessed: ‘Kylie’s got a new lip gloss? F**k!’”

A 27-year-old man accused of drugging, sexually assaulting, and filming multiple women over the past few years is set to make his first court appearance at a virtual hearing on Wednesday.

Edward Huffman was arrested on Sept. 13 after two women reported that he had raped them earlier that month. Since his arrest, investigators with the Clayton County Police Department have identified at least seven victims, and more charges have surfaced. Huffman is currently facing 20 charges, including five counts of rape, as well as charges for aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, and distributing prohibited sexual content online.

At a press conference held last month, Clayton County Police Commander Frank Thomas said that Huffman had been attacking women since at least 2021, often using drugs to incapacitate them before recording and uploading videos of the assaults online. Huffman allegedly hosted social gatherings at his home, where many of the victims, whom he knew personally, attended.

Police said that most of the victims had no recollection of the assaults, only learning about them when they were shown videos posted on pornographic websites.

"It was shocking to them when they were presented with images and videos retrieved from the pornographic websites of themselves with Huffman," Thomas said.

In addition to the sexual assault charges, Huffman is also accused of molesting a child in his care. That charge is still pending.

Clayton County authorities continue to investigate and have urged anyone with similar experiences to contact them. Huffman remains in custody at the Clayton County Jail.

The man charged with raping two women and murdering one of them in brutal attacks along the Venice Canals on the same day in April pleaded no contest to the charges Friday and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Anthony Francisco Jones pleaded no contest to murder with special circumstances, two counts of rape, one count of sexual penetration by use of force, one count of mayhem, one count of torture and one count of sodomy by use of force in connection with the April 6 attacks.

After Jones pleaded no contest to those charges, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Cathryn F. Brougham sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 107 years to life, plus eight years for the mayhem offense.

Jones, during a court appearance, also admitted that he kidnapped the victims, committed offenses against more than one of them and inflicted great bodily injury on them. He also admitted that the murder occurred while he was engaged in the commission of rape and sodomy.

Sarah Alden, a 53-year-old mother of two, was left in a coma from her attack and eventually succumbed to her injuries. She was declared brain-dead on May 20 and removed from life support four days later; her organs were donated after she died.

The second woman, Mary Klein, was hospitalized with significant injuries, including multiple fractures to her jaw, but survived.

Klein described her ordeal to The Times from her hospital bed in the immediate aftermath of the attack. She had gone for a walk after work when she was struck to the ground and brutally beaten, leaving her with at least eight fractures to her jaw, several teeth knocked loose, a large cut to the back of her head and severe bruises covering her face and neck.

“Could this have been prevented?” Klein wondered in a statement that she read at the sentencing. “This guy was basically parading up and down Washington Boulevard at Venice Beach, L.A.’s popular tourist destination, with a half-empty bottle of liquor, intimidating women on the street. If he had been stopped before the attack, imagine how different life would be today for me, for Sarah, for Sarah’s sons and for all the people terrorized by this attack.”

Surveillance video from a nearby home in the 2700 block of Strongs Drive that captured the assault — which prosecutors described in a document requesting that Jones be held without bail — shows a man dragging Klein’s body to the gate of a house.

The man is then seen in the video sexually assaulting Klein, who was unconscious, for about seven minutes. After the assault, he stands, pulls his pants up, kicks Klein and walks away. He then returns to Klein’s side and kicks her in the head “with full force” as she was sitting up. As she lay on the ground, he stood with both feet on top of her head before finally leaving the scene.

It is The Times’ policy not to identify victims of sexual assault unless they come forward publicly, but Klein, 55, agreed to share her story. Klein still needs tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of orthodontic surgery and friends have established an online fundraising account.

That night of violence — with its brutality and seeming lack of a motive — has shaken the community. Many locals had always felt the tourist destination with multimillion-dollar homes perched along the waterways was safe, even when walking alone at night.

Following the sentencing, L.A. County Dist. Atty George Gascón praised the investigative work by the LAPD sex crimes detectives. “Their tireless efforts and commitment to justice have been instrumental in holding the offender accountable and providing a measure of justice for the victims,” he said.

“Our prosecutors fought hard to serve justice today in response to Mr. Anthony Jones’ vile actions, including a brutal murder. Our hearts go out to the victim, the survivor, their families, and the Venice community,” the prosecutor added.

Excuse me, but exactly what purpose is served by a life spent in jail to
someone that acknowledges the charges as true?

Give him a year, maybe two, to insure all the legal aspects are covered..
and execute him. The money that would have been spent to keep him in jail
can be put to far better use.

CINCINNATI — Police are investigating two sex crimes against women in Westwood just one day apart.

Thursday, Cincinnati police released a sketch of a man they wanted for questioning in an attempted rape in the 3100 block of Queen City Avenue.

A rape that happened the day before a few minutes away was not made public.

The Thursday attempted rape happened around 12:15 p.m. and sent a woman to the hospital.

According to dispatchers, the woman said the suspect got into her garage, pushed her into the basement and tried removing her pants when a ladder fell on him and he ran out the home.

Radio communication between police and dispatchers following the assault shows officers quickly connect the attempted rape to a rape the day before at an apartment nearby.

Mark Andrews, 30, was arrested Friday night. He is currently behind bars at the Hamilton County Justice Center, charged with rape that happened at an apartment on Mozart Avenue in Westwood Wednesday.

Court documents said Andrews forced his way into the victim's apartment.

So far, no one has been charged in the attempted rape on Queen City Avenue. It occurred in the same block Andrews was arrested in on Friday.

The descriptions provided by the two victims were similar, including the clothes the suspect was wearing.

"Male black, 30s, 5'7, beard, black hat, black puffy jacket and black pants," a dispatcher relayed to officers following the second attack.

Andrews has a long arrest history. Last year, charges against him were dropped in at least two cases when he was found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

This May, he underwent treatment to reach competency in a different case. He was charged with harassment with a bodily substance for spitting on police officers. In that case, he was sentenced to a year in prison. He received credit for time served for 204 days. It is unclear when he was released, but Andrews is currently on probation, according to court documents.

In the rape case, his bond was set Monday at $500,000 with electronic monitoring requirements if released.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - A 69-year-old man is facing charges after police say he held a woman against her will and sexually assaulted her for multiple days in her Portland home.

Police say the 74-year-old victim was returning home from the grocery store on Dec. 23 when she stopped to rest due to the weight of her grocery bags when a man, later identified as Kenneth Gregory Williams, approached her and offered to help. Williams carried the victim’s grocery bags to her home, where police say he barricaded the door from inside and prevented her from leaving.

According to police, the victim reported that between Dec. 23 and Dec. 25, Williams sexually assaulted her multiple times. She was able to convince him to leave on Dec. 26, after which she went to a hospital for treatment.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Williams, who was located and arrested on Sunday, Jan. 5.

Williams was booked into the Multnomah County jail for three counts of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree coercion, and first-degree burglary.

Williams pled not guilty to the charges on Monday and will be arraigned on the indictment on Jan. 14 at 9:30 a.m.

Police say Sex Crimes Unit detectives are also investigating Williams for rape allegations in a different case.

“These cases are incredibly rare but of course they can happen. We can’t imagine what this woman went through. It’s horrifying, terrifying, you name it. That’s why we worked quickly and diligently to get her the help she needed,” said a PPB spokesperson.

Resident, Tabitha Peterson, said her family has been victims of sexual assaults in the community and that keeping your guard up is vital, especially when moving alone downtown.

“I try not be alone at night, I bring my dog with me, and I carry mace,” Peterson said. “Mace is very important because you never know nowadays.”

Peterson, who often walks with her dog, Bella, said people understanding what’s happening around them could help avoid similar types of situations.

“I’m overly aware of my surroundings sometimes,” Peterson said. “It’s better to be safe than sorry because I’ve been followed before and almost kidnapped once.”

Detectives believe there could be additional unreported cases involving Williams. Anyone with information about him or this case should contact Detective Michael Bledsoe at ***@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 24-332946.

According to court records, Williams was arrested for misdemeanor harassment and menacing in June 2024. He also arrested in 2008 for coercion and tampering with a witness.

Between 1994 and 2008, he had multiple drug-related, robbery and/or misdemeanor crimes arrests.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A 29-year-old man is facing sodomy, rape and kidnapping charges after police say he sexually assaulted a woman inside a Portland home Sunday night.

Officers were called to the MAX platform at East Burnside and 122nd Avenue when two men were holding down another man after some sort of crime. Police found out moments earlier that the suspect had broken into a person's home and sexually assaulted a young woman.

Sean Leon Lacy, Jr. is facing kidnapping, rape, sodomy, unlawful penetration and burglary charges.

One woman on the 122nd Avenue MAX platform said she sees Lacy on the train frequently and always got a creepy vibe from him. She says she talked to the suspect Sunday afternoon when she noticed him following her off the MAX. When she confronted him, she said he tried to get her number and then tried to find out where she lived.

"I was like no, and he was really persistent about going where I was going," said Soller. "Hairs on my neck were sticking up cuz he was kind of weird, creeping me out."

When Delisa Peterson saw Lacy's mug shot, her reaction was the same. She says he also tried to get too personal with her.

"He's definitely tried to get my phone number at least twice," she said. "There's definitely something off about him that I've tried to stay clear. It's just that gut feeling."

Lacy was arrested earlier this year following a standoff situation in Greshamon charges of assault, strangulation, burglary and meth possession. Those charges were dismissed, but he has other prior charges for criminal trespassing, robbery, assault, harassment and theft for which he was convicted.

Soller and Peterson followed their instincts.

"I have a pretty good feeling with most people and really glad I never spoke to him or gave him my number," said Peterson.

"It explains kind of why he was so persistent about going with me wherever I was going or wanting me to go with him somewhere," said Soller.

From Portland Police:

Anyone with information about Lacy is asked to contact Detective Jason Christensen at 503-823-0894, ***@portlandoregon.gov.
