The US military says it has launched strikes on the
Iranian-backed Houthi group in Yemen, hitting 15 targets.

The Pentagon said it used aircrafts and warships to
launch the attacks in order "to protect freedom of
navigation".

Several explosions were reported in some of Yemen’s
main cities, including the capital Sanaa.

Since November, the Houthis have launched attacks
on around 100 ships in the Red Sea, sinking two vessels.
The rebel group says the attacks are retaliation for
Israel's military campaign in Gaza.

. . .

Israel launched a pretty good attack on the Houthi
earlier in the week - hitting port facilities and
two power plants.

The Houthi have become like Hamas and Hez - always
firing rockets into Israel. They have also made
the use of the Red sea very risky, a huge trade
problem. They have hit many vessels, and fired on
US Navy ships too.

The Houthi are major clients/proxies of Iran.

WHICH Yemen ??? It's kinda split in half right now.
The Houthi control the western half - next to the
Red Sea. The Houthi damned WELL have weapons, lots
and lots of weapons, and are getting more and better
from Iran all the time.

Not exactly unexpected ...

Problems have been building-up in the middle-east
for a good decade. With Iran as a sugar-daddy the
genocidal elements have become more bold and more
dangerous. Something had to give.

Unfortunately it is a bad time for this so far as
the 'western' nations are concerned. Money is tight,
civil/political divisions have grown, 'immigrants'
fog the picture, the WILL to deal with the whole
middle-eastern situation doesn't seem to be there.

The increasing bond between Iran and Russia (and
Russia and China/NK) throws in another wrench. Obama
could have taken out Iran's major assets, but not Joe
or whomever follows despite all rhetoric. Very likely
by now that Iran does have at least a small inventory
of nukes (1940s tech folks) but maybe limited means
of delivering them afar (to date).

Oh well, it's been bad in this area since the literal
dawn of civilization. Everybody hates everybody,
vendettas going back so far nobody remembers their
origins, thousands of years of extreme conquests and
enslavement and genocidal 'solutions'.
